Extra Features:
It was an honor to have Max Peril screened as the finale film at Mississippi’s oldest film festival – the Magnolia Independent Film Festival.
We were in the company of a diverse group of filmmakers who had traveled to Starkville, MS from California, Utah, and even Norway. Of course, some of our favorite Mississippi filmmakers and actors were in the mix as well. It was a treat for us to hear how others approach the task of filmmaking. Everyone was warm, complimentary, and generous with sharing tales of their struggle.
The hospitality provided by the Magnolia fest was off the charts. A nice hotel room was provided for our weekend there, food was always available, and Angella Baker and the Magnolia team made us feel legitimately special. It’s a festival experience we won’t forget.
And to top that off, Max Peril won “Best Homegrown”!
Woke up to some good news this morning: Max Peril nabbed a Best Feature win from the Gulf Coast Sun and Sand Film Festival!
The film was shown on October 11th, 2015 at the Gulfport Cinemark theater, to an enthusiastic crowd. We had a great Q&A session and established some new filmmaker friendships before we left.
When we didn’t think Max Peril news could get any better, tonight we received a call from James “Sonny” Howard who, along with Mark Forte, attended a Max Peril screening at the Rails to Reels Film Festival.
(Sonny played the roles of Cousin Ellis and the toothpic-tossing Russian, and Mark Forte played the roles of Myron and Blanco Duro.)
They were delighted to inform us that Max Peril took home Best Feature!
Max Peril will be screening October 11th, 2015 @ 4:00 at the Sun and Sand Festival.
Very pleased to announce Max Peril has been accepted to screen at the 2015 Knoxville Film Festival in Knoxville, TN.
Max Peril was accepted into the North Carolina Film Awards.
Max Peril has been selected to screen at the Heart of the Pines festival!
Being accepted into the inaugural Film Expo (part of Hattiesburg’s annual city-wide FestivalSouth arts celebration) was a thrill. Primarily because of the significance of being able to say we were part of FSFX the first year it kicked off, and also because it’s a festival just up the road from us, in a town long overdue for such an event. Given the fact that first-year festivals rarely go smoothly (understandably so), we weren’t expecting what we ended up getting at FSFX: A festival staff who were immediately-available and cheerfully willing to answer any questions we had, an absolutely stunning screening experience in a legitimate theatre, and the most pleasant Q&A session I’ve ever been a part of – largely due to the skills of gracious host/director Miles Doleac.
An “Official Selection” was a big deal for us. Winning “Best Feature” AND “Best Actor” was overload.
We left with a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. It was an experience none of us will soon forget.
